SUMMARY:School Supply Distribution
DESCRIPTION:La Puente is meeting the needs of K-12 students across the rural areas of San Luis Valley (SLV) by providing them with school supplies for the 2024-2025 school year. \nHistorically\, La Puente has held a backpack distribution outside of our three Rainbow’s End Thrift Stores. We found this wasn’t meeting the true needs of the K-12 students in the SLV in underserved counties and school districts. This year we are focusing on reaching out to the most rural counties across the SLV\, where students have access to supplies that will help ensure their success for the school year ahead of them. \nThis year we will be reaching Moffat\, Fort Garland\, Crestone\, Monte Vista\, Antonito\, and San Luis. \n\nAntonito Schools—Scheduled for distribution on July 29th at the school 11 am to 3 pm.\n\n13099 Co Rd G\, Antonito\, CO 81120\n\n\nSan Luis—July 30th\, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at American Legion Post\n\n142 302 4th Street\, San Luis\n\n\nSierra Grande School—July 30\, 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.\nMonte Vista School—July 31st from 9 am to 1 pm at\n\nMonte Vista Elementary School 545 2nd Ave. Monte Vista\n\n\nSangre de Cristo—July 31st from 3 to 6 pm\n\n8751 Lane 7 North Mosca\n\n\nCrestone and Moffat will distribute along with what they are collecting.\n\nDay of School:\n\nCrestone: TBD\nMoffat: August 12th\n\n\n\n\n\nFor more information or questions please contact Laura Fierce at (719) 589-5909 ext. 253 or email at community.edu@lapuente.net \nThis event is brought about with La Puente’s Adelante Family Resource Center. Adelante promotes the empowerment and stabilization of families. Adelante-supported families\, are offered individualized assistance in the navigation of resources that will help families set and reach their goals. Services include assistance with housing\, case management\, referrals\, improved access to counseling\, and family advocacy. Through supporting families as they seek to improve their quality of life and achieve a healthy interdependence\, Adelante seeks to be a resource center for all families who wish to flourish\, especially for those who need a bit of extra support to make their dreams a reality.
