A social enterprise is a business which exists to support a social justice cause, in this case, La Puente’s programs, with its profits. Five businesses in the San Luis Valley make up La Puente’s Social Enterprise network. These social enterprises bolster economic activity, create a sense of community, provide meaningful jobs, offer workforce development opportunities, and communicate the mission of La Puente to residents and visitors alike.
In an isolated region with few resources, patronage of these businesses is an everyday way for our community members to support the work of La Puente and invest in their town’s quality of life. Many small purchases and many small donations create a whole greater than the sum of its’ parts. The social enterprises of La Puente play a key role in economic activity in downtown districts in Alamosa, Monte Vista, and Center as well as donating their proceeds to alleviate hunger and homelessness.

If you have stuff you are ready to part with, we can use it. We depend solely on the generosity of our supporters to stock our second-hand stores, so every donation is greatly appreciated.
